Professional Credentials

Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC)
American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC)

Clients/problems served

Depression, anxiety, grief, spiritual, and relational problems. One of our specialties is marital counseling and within this area we treat intimacy issues such as communication, sexual issues, and conflict resolution. As well, we work in situations where there has been an affair, pornography use, or emotional abuse. Another specialty is working with some of the more common issues Clergy deal with such as burnout, spiritual dryness, struggle with call, moral failure, and others.

Prof. Employment experience

Mike worked with a hospice program for 5 ½ years as a chaplain and grief counselor. Kari was a missionary in China for 2 years. We were employed with Blessing Ranch for 2 ½ years which is a counseling center for pastors and their spouses. We left there to return to school for our doctorate and we opened a counseling office which has been in operation for over 4 years now. At the same time, we were employed at LifeBridge Christian Church as the directors of marriage and family ministries. We are currently fellows with Marble Retreat which is another counseling center for those in ministry.

Experience in church leadership

Leading a pastor care program, co-leading with my wife a marriage and family program, and part-time preaching responsibilities at a small church. As a volunteer we have taught pre-marital and marital classes, spiritual discipline classes, and led youth group.

Standard fee

Our standard fee for one hour of counseling is $65/hour to meet with just my wife or I and $90/hr to meet with both of us. The cost of intensive services will be assessed at the time of the call, based on a variety of factors including their financial situation, length of stay, etc. However, the cost would not exceed the above, combined hourly cost.

Why I want to serve church leaders and their families

We have had a passion for many years now to work with those in ministry. We have both been personally impacted by pastors in our lives who needed help. We have experienced the stressors of ministry ourselves, and we have now worked with many people in ministry and it has only grown our heart for them. In addition, we have invested the majority of our training specifically in the area of caring for the needs of ministers.
